Wild Wales 4x4 Expedition
Two Days • Cambrian Mountains • Legendary Green Lanes • Stunning Welsh Scenery
Experience the wild heart of Wales on an unforgettable two-day 4x4 expedition through some of the country's most spectacular landscapes.
From winding mountain valleys and historic tracks to remote reservoirs and breathtaking viewpoints, this adventure combines legendary green lanes with incredible scenery, technical driving and unforgettable camping.
Whether you're exploring the famous Strata Florida trail, stopping for lunch at the iconic Devil's Bridge or climbing high into the Cambrian Mountains, every mile reveals another reason why Mid Wales is regarded as one of the UK's greatest overland destinations.
The Journey
Day One – Into the Cambrian Mountains
Our adventure begins near Rhayader, where we'll meet for breakfast before setting off into the spectacular Welsh countryside.
The morning starts with a scenic drive through winding valleys and mountain roads as we make our way towards one of Wales' most famous off-road routes — Strata Florida.
Following the ancient track through remote landscapes, river crossings and stunning mountain scenery, you'll quickly discover why this route has become well known amongst the overlanding community.
Around lunchtime we'll arrive at the famous Devil's Bridge, where you'll have time to enjoy lunch, grab a coffee and, if you wish, explore the historic bridges and spectacular waterfalls.
The afternoon becomes a little more adventurous as we continue exploring a selection of carefully chosen green lanes and more technical off-road route before arriving at our campsite for the evening.
As the sun sets over the Welsh hills, we'll relax around the campfire, share stories from the day's driving and past overland trips from yourself's or others and enjoy another memorable evening outdoors.
Day Two – Hidden Wales
After breakfast we continue our journey through some of Mid Wales' most beautiful and lesser-used green lanes.
Today's route winds through remote valleys, mountain passes and tracks, offering a fantastic mix of enjoyable driving and breathtaking scenery.
Throughout the day we'll stop at spectacular viewpoints and a peaceful lake for lunch, with plenty of opportunities for photographs or a swim and simply taking in the incredible surroundings.
Our final route of the weekend, finishing with one of the most scenic drives in Wales.
It's the perfect ending to an unforgettable two-day adventure.
