The Overlanders Dream
Tours to Morocco are every overlanders dream from the vast deserts, Atlas mountains, Berber culture and steeped in history dating back centuries along with some of the most helpful and friendliest people on earth. A 4x4 holiday here would certainly be one to remember for years to come.
How are our tours different in Morocco ? Most people have only one thing in mind when visiting Morocco. Sand dunes and the Sahara Desert and capturing that epic shot stuck wheel deep in the dunes. Although this looks great many tour operators only focus on this.
Leading to just days and days of been behind the wheel and not taking in all that Morocco has to offer. With Timeless Overland run by adventurers and who love to travel, we believe in showing you the best of Morocco as well as driving dunes and stunning mountain passes only accessible in a 4x4. From the Diverse culture to visiting the best sites and having the time to stop, look around and take it all in. Not just drive though it.
Here is some of what you can expect with a tour to Morocco with us.
- Sahara Desert. The destination of our tour and a truly iconic location in its self, visiting to catch sunset and sunrise while staying in a desert Berber camp for the night (double bed). Here you also have the option to add a camel or quad bike trek across the dunes and sand boarding.
- Ait BenHaddou. Listed as UNESEO World Heritage Sites in 1987 and dating back to 17th century its one of the most famous ksar. Also used for filming to films such Gladiator,The mummy, Game of Thrones and many more. Having time to explore the village
- Todra Gorge. Are a series wadi's, in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, this gorge measures just 33 feet across, but the cliffs are more than 500 feet tall on either side in places.
- Ouzoud Falls. One of the tallest waterfalls in Africa and is also home to a population of monkeys who enjoy the waters and the occasional guest which your welcome to feed and are not shy to sitting on your shoulder. There are rafts available near the bottom to get up close or go for a swim before we have lunch on the terrace overlooking the falls. A trip to the Ouzoud Falls is perfect for enjoying the wonders of nature and the serenity of the cascading falls.
- Atlas Mountains. The mountain range that stretches across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia for 2500km. With diverse terrain, climates and wildlife, the Atlas are dotted with Berber villages and riven with canyons and ravines. The highest peak is 4,167m Toubkal, which lies within Morocco's Toubkal National Park.
- Merzouga & Gara Medouar. Merzouga a small desert town near the edge of Sahara. Visiting the 4x4 Museum and the chance to visit the famous Erg Chebbi (Sea of Dunes) . Gara Medouar. also known as Jebel Mudawwar ("round mountain") developed in 11th century. Its contemporary role as a tourist destination began with a film: the location was opened up for cinema, off-roading, and tourism because of the 1999 film The mummy The site itself was opened up because the crew built a concrete ramp through a breach in the low wall, in the southwest opening of the formation, and one of the film's central locations was built inside.[2] In 1999, remains of plaster indicated where film sets had been constructed. It has been used in other films as well, including as the setting for the headquarters of SPECTRE in the James Bond film.
