High on the Moors – One-Day Adventure
This classic Yorkshire Dales route delivers a full day of varied green-laning, combining steady trails, technical climbs, historic landscapes, and stunning scenery. Running in an almost circular loop, it’s a rewarding and well-balanced adventure from start to finish.
Your Journey Begins
Our adventure begins at 9:00 AM in Askrigg (exact meeting location will be provided via email).
From Askrigg, we head north onto a series of steady, flowing trails, allowing everyone to settle into the day before the terrain becomes more challenging. The route soon leads us to the well-known Flemington Edge — a steep, rocky climband a real highlight of the trip.
Continuing on, we tackle water crossings (weather and conditions permitting) before stopping at a local café if you’d like to grab refreshments.
We then work our way back south, passing near Catterick and entering an area rich in old mining history, where the landscape and lanes take on a completely different character.
The day finishes at the stunning Aysgarth Falls, where there is an optional final lane for those who want to round off the adventure with one last drive.
