Trip Highlights
Day 1: The Journey Begins
We’ll meet in Plymouth and board the ferry to Spain. As we sail towards Santander, you’ll have the chance to get to know your fellow adventurers over a briefing session. Radios will be handed out as we prepare for what’s ahead. After a 20-hour ferry ride, we’ll arrive in Santander and drive south to our first stop in Leon.
Day 2: Portugal Awaits
After crossing into Portugal, car enthusiasts will love our stop at the Rally Museum, a haven for anyone who appreciates finely tuned machines. Then, the real fun begins as we start our first trails outside Porto—heading up into the hills for some heart-pounding hill climbs and incredible views. As the terrain becomes more technical, you’ll experience the thrill of off-roading in its purest form. We’ll cap the day with a cozy night under the stars.
Day 3: Seaside Serenity
After a beachfront lunch in Praia da Vagueria, we’ll visit the local seafood market—an absolute must in this region. Then, it’s back to the trails, where sandy tracks weave through towns, offering stunning photo opportunities before we settle into Tomar for the night.
Day 4: Medieval Marvels
Start the day with a visit to Tomar’s Knights Templar Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Step back in time and explore this fortress built in 1160, a true treasure for history buffs. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely afternoon wandering Tomar's picturesque streets.
Day 5-7: The Coastal Expedition
We’ll drive south along Portugal’s stunning coastline, mostly off-road on thrilling sandy trails. Explore sun-kissed beaches, quaint towns, and hidden gems. With three days to experience the coast, you’ll have plenty of time to soak up local culture, sample fresh cuisine, and relax by the sea.
Day 8: Southernmost Adventure
We’ll arrive at Sagres, the south western most point in Europe! Explore the beauty of the area’s local trails, and enjoy a well-deserved meal in town. Sagres marks the turning point of our journey as we begin our drive back north.
Day 9: The Road to Elvas
After a scenic morning, we’ll visit the stunning 18th-century fort in Elvas. With ample time to explore this historic town, you’ll be enchanted by its rich heritage before we continue northwards toward Spain.
Day 10: Roman Roots in Caceres
In Spain, we’ll visit the ancient Roman city of Cáceres with its charming cobbled streets and medieval architecture. We’ll stop for lunch and explore more sights before hitting the road for a full day of scenic driving.
Day 11: A Grand Finale in Salamanca
Our final night brings us to Salamanca, where you can wander the lively square at night and experience the magic of this vibrant Spanish town. We’ll enjoy one last meal together, reminiscing on the unforgettable adventure we’ve shared before heading home the next day.
Perfect for adventure seekers, history lovers, and car enthusiasts alike, this trip combines rugged 4x4 fun with cultural exploration in one of Europe’s most stunning landscapes. Whether you’re tackling the trails or enjoying local delicacies, every moment promises excitement and discovery.
